The Dallas Cowboys have hit the ejection button on Ezekiel Elliott after a long seven-year run. 

An NFL Network reporter, Mike Garafolo, tweeted the statement of owner Jerry Jones on Wednesday, March 16, 2023.

As per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport, Elliot will be designated as a post-June 1 release.

He has a 16.7 million dollars cap hit for 2023. A post -June 1 cut will save the team 10.9 million dollars facing the cap for the forthcoming season.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram had earlier informed that the Dallas Cowboys were “set to part ways” with Elliott.

Elliott amassed 12 touchdowns and 968 total yards last season but raced for a career-low 3.8 yards per carry, including 231 carries and 876 running yards, and caught just 17 passes for 92 yards.

He struggled in his last four games, along with playoffs, rushing for 100 yards on 50 carries.
