Joshua Michael Richardson was born on September 15, parents Alice and Michael Richardson in Edmond, Oklahoma.

However, Richardson’s interest in basketball was sparked by his older sister being a school-level player.

Richardson was sent to the New Orleans Pelicans on February 9, 2023, in exchange for Devonte Graham and four second-round picks in the future.
