Markquis Nowell is a young basketball prodigy who was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York City. 

He comes from a family of sports enthusiasts, including his three brothers, Marcus, Marius, and Marek, who have also pursued their athletic passions. 

Markquis, who is 23 years old, plays as the Point Guard for Kansas State University. He joined the Wildcats in 2021 after playing for the Little Rock Trojan for three years. 

Nowell’s talent and dedication have helped him thrive in the NCAA league, making him a rising star in the college basketball world.

In March 2023, Markquis made headlines after leading his team to a hard-fought 75-69 victory over the Kentucky Wildcats, scoring an impressive 27 points in the process. 

Nowell’s skills and agility have caught the attention of fans and critics alike, and he is expected to be a key player in the upcoming Sweet 16 of the March Madness 2023 tournament.

When asked about Michigan State’s defense against elite guards in the NCAA tournament, Markquis boldly declared, “I determine how the game is going to go.” 

He backed up his words with an outstanding individual performance in Kansas State’s 98-93 overtime victory over Michigan State, helping his team advance to the Elite Eight.

Markquis Nowell’s family life

Markquis Nowell was raised in New York City by his parents, Kisha and Marcus Nowell Sr. He was born on December 25, 1999, and from a young age, he showed a keen interest in basketball. 

Markquis’ mother, Kisha Morales, is a real estate professional who has been working at SW Management LLC for over a decade as an incurrence and AR File clerk.

Markquis’ childhood was spent in a modest apartment in Brooklyn, New York, where he shared a bedroom with his older brother, Marcus. 

It was during this time that Markquis’ love for basketball began to grow, and he spent countless hours practicing and honing his skills. 

His parents, especially his father Marcus Sr., played a vital role in his development as a player.

Markquis’ father and older brother spent three months playing with him at every park they could find after he was not selected for a grassroots team at the young age of seven. 

Marcus Sr. trusted former K-State assistant Shane Southwell with his son’s future, who had connections in New York, where the Nowell family is from. 

Despite his talent, coaches were sometimes hesitant to select Markquis because of his abilities, according to The Athletic. But the young athlete continued to work hard and eventually earned a place on the K-State team.

Markquis’ father was incredibly proud of his son and hoped that a large crowd of around 3,000 people would come to see Markquis’ debut game. 

Markquis has since become a rising star in the NCAA basketball league, impressing fans and critics alike with his talent and dedication.

His parents, especially his father, and mother, have been a constant source of support and inspiration throughout his journey.
